political lesbians with creepy anti-choice graphics?

i think it says something about how little of a shit “political lesbians” give about women’s rights when they’re using uterus police iconography. i mean, “political lesbianism” is insulting enough to being a dyke to start with as it reduces sexual orientation, a complex and sliding thing for a lot of women, to…politics? it’s really kind of gross because it implies that lesbians aren’t real. hi, i’m pretty sure i’m real.

when you throw in that “political lesbianism” seems to be more about tossing brickbats at trans women (and your tired-ass assumptions about our genitalia) than anything else, it really feels like there’s a creeptacular aspect of it being the home of women who really want their transphobia validated more than anything else. when you add in things like using…you know, uterus police graphics? fuck you. no, seriously, fuck you…clearly in your years of “political lesbianism” you’ve never had to hold your friend’s hand through an abortion because one of her shitty clients had an impregnation fetish and pulled off the condom. clearly in your years of “political lesbianism” you’ve been resting on your laurels of how radicool it is to love women and furthering a nice 1970s ideal of what being a dyke is. is it still radical to love women? fuck yes, especially when you’re trans and that gets your identity policed, especially when you’re not white and lesbians of color are still tokenized, and especially when you’re in it for the love and not the politics and our culture’s war on lesbians says our relationships are lesser, they don’t matter, and that it’ll never be real without a man.

i’ve been real without a man for over 20 years, and if you’d like to break up with your “political lesbian” identity and taste the rainbow, don’t bother with me…not because you’re probably a hopeless transphobe but because my politics involve standing for all women and not a small, scared group of frightened closed minds.
